      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

      The knowledge of the time-dependent behavior of rocks can be of rock engineering. Hence, it is considered essential that time-dependent properties of rocks be investigated in the laboratory.
      The facilities for studing time-dependent deformation were universal testing machine, strain gauge, bridge box, dynamic strain amplifier, lowpass filter and rapicorder. The main results are as follows.
      1) The strain increase of chun-ho limestone specimens is proportional to the loading time.
      2) The axial creep curve of Cheon-ho limestone specimens exhibite the three stages, In the first creep region strain increases, decreases again in the second and increases in the third till the specimen ruptures.
      3) Stress-strain curves of Chang-seong and Hwasoon shales show that the strength of Chang-seong shale is higher than that of Hwa-soon and the strains are allmost same.
