Art Nouveau much utilized curves with a motif of natural forms, including plants, etc. but did not always accept the form merely by functions and rationality. However, Art Nouveau is a transitional style positions among historical or style-based doctrine, and the functionalism that forms the mainstream of furniture design in modern times, giving rise to a noncancelable point that it emphasized the utility of the machine. To study the characteristics of Art Nouveau, it was approached by analyzing different documents of major architects. This research covers the origins and formation of Art Nouveau. Moreover, the artworks of representative and yet the most active architects during the peak of Art Nouveau such as Henry Van de Velde , Victor Horta, Hector Guimard, Antonio Gaudi, and Charles Renne Mackintosh were analyzed.
