동양의 양육전통인 엄부자모(嚴父慈母)를 둘러싼 시선과 눈짓

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Tradition is old but new. Eastern paradigm of Um-Bu-Ja-Mo[嚴父慈母] in parenting is also too. In Taoism, Yin/Yang[陰/陽] is complementary principles of balance and not control of the one over the other. As this, Um-Bu-Ja-Mo[嚴父慈母] is the two cardinal principles of Eastern parenting. This paradigm is not duality because it do not conflict with but complement each other: “Contraria Sunt Complementa.” It is different manifestations of dualistic essence in parenting. The notion of “equal but different” is important in the fundamental belief of parenting. In this point, Um-Bu-Ja-Mo[嚴父慈母] is based on mutuality both father and mother. The harmonious co-existence of Um-Bu-Ja-Mo[嚴父慈母] can work as a powerful metaphor which functions inter-dependence of parent. We come from traditions that are deeply rooted in connectedness by Um-Bu[嚴父] code and Ja-Mo[慈母] code. But at modern and postmodern times, this paradigm of parenting is forgetting in our mind.
