지구화와 민주적 정당성 : 새로운 민주주의 담론을 위한 예비적 고찰 = Globalization and Crisis of Democratic Legitimacy: a Preliminary Search for a New Discourse of Democracy

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 지구화와 그 영향에 따른 민주적 정당성의 위기의 내용을 확인하고, 이에 대한 이론적 대안을 검토하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 논문은 우선 지구화가 어느 영역에서 민주적 정당성의 위기를 초래하고 있는가를 검토하고, 이에 대한 이론적 대안으로서 제시되고 있는 글로벌 데모스의 존재 가능성에 관한 논의, 데모스에서 데모이로의 전환, 그리고 민주적 반추와 헌정민주주의를 차례로 검토한다. 이와 같은 이론적 검토를 통해 본 논문은 기왕에 한국 민주주의 담론이 상대적으로 소홀히 다뤄 온 지구화와 민주적 정당성의 위기 문제를 부각시키고자 하였으며, 궁극적으로 이를 둘러싼 한국 사회에서의 현실적 대안 담론을 예비하고자 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The paper first defines the crisis of democratic legitimacy, that results from the inevitable phenomena of globalization in general. Having identified the crisis of democratic legitimacy, the paper turns to the existing theories that account for the nature of crisis and the responses to the crisis. Specifically, the paper examines diverse theoretical discussions on the possibility of global demos, transition from demos to demoi, and democratic interation. The ultimate goal of reviewing these theoretical discussions is to prepare for the current and potential troubles that may be involved in Korean democracy society concerning the problematic relationship between globalization and democracy.
