The purpose of this study is to examine the educational and cultural value of the music cultural heritage of the Gimpo region and to discuss ways to utilize the music cultural heritage of the Gimpo region for educational purposes. To achieve this purpose, this study reviewed the 2022 revised music curriculum, selected educationally applicable elements and related subjects of the musical cultural heritage of the Gimpo region(Gimpo Tongjin Duraenori, Gimpo Jigyeong Dajinori, Daemyeonghang Baeddiuneun Sori) and presented an integrated teaching methods.
The importance of this study lies in understanding the educational and cultural value of the musical cultural heritage of the Gimpo region and exploring its potential use within school educational settings. Additionally, it is meaningful that the study presented the diversity of songs materials by discovering local folk songs with distinctive regional characteristics.
The followings are suggestions based on the study. Firstly, classroom teachers should be interested in the music cultural heritage of the region where they work, apply it to the educational context, and play a role in passing it on to local students. Secondly, local governments and offices of education should allocate policy attention and provide support for the music cultural heritage of their respective region.
This study centered on educating local students about the value of local music cultural heritage and importance of its preservation and developing it as teaching and learning materials. Thus, it will greatly assist localizing the curriculum, fostering a sense of attachment to the region, and generating interest in Korean traditional music.
