Current Status and Suggestions for BPO

국문 초록 (Abstract)

TSU가 2007년 SWIFT에서 개발되고, 2013년 BPO통일규칙이 제정되었지만, BPO 거래금액은 아직 낮은 수준에 머물러 있다. 이 연구에서는 BPO/TSU의 현황을 분석하고 실무상 발전 방안을 모색하고자 한다. 연구방법은 문헌연구로 한다. 여기서는 SWIFT의 BPO 관련 통계와 BPO의 현황과 비즈니스 모델 및 장래 전망에 관한 문헌을 검토, 분석하고, 장래 발전을 위한 제언을 한다. 현재 50개 이상의 은행이 BPO를 채택하였고, 업계 전문가는 그 이용도가 점차 높아질 것으로 전망하고 있다. 그러나 많은 은행은 그들의 고객이 BPO에 대하여 문의를 할 것을 기다리면서 BPO 채택 여부를 망설이고 있다. 무역의존도가 높은 우리나라는 능동적으로 BPO를 채택하여 사용할 필요가 있다. BPO는 종이 없는 전자거래로 무역거래의 효율성을 높여서 무역거래 규모 확대에 기여할것으로 보인다. 그러나 우리나라에서 외환은행이 선도적으로 BPO 도입을 시도하였으나 현재는 중단 상태에 있다. 은행연합회, 대한상공회의소 및 무역협회와 같은 경제단체가 중심이 되어 적극적으로 은행 및 기업에 홍보를 할 필요가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Purpose : TSU was developed by SWIFT in 2007 and URBPO was released by I.C.C. and SWIFT in 2013. Despite this, the volume of completed BPO transaction remains low. This paper aims to address the current status of BPO/TSU, find and suggest how to promote the use of them in practice. Research design, data, methodology : This paper reviews and analyzes SWIFT’s statistics and literature concerning the current status, business cases and future outlook of BPO, and gives suggestions for future progress. Results : More than 50 banks have adopted the BPO, and industry observers expect that the number will rise. However, many banks are hesitating whether or not to adopt the BPO, just waiting for their customers to start asking for it. Conclusions : Korea which is highly dependent upon foreign trade should try to adopt and make an active use of BPO. BPO is expected to improve
