ʻ문화적 전환ʼ 이후의 국가론 = ʻ실재ʼ와 ʻ상상ʼ의 앙상블로서의 국가

국문 초록 (Abstract)

국가는 사회의 부분이자 전체로서의 모순적인 역할을 담당하는 실체로서 사회의 한 부분으로서의 ?실재적? 측면과 사회 전체의 이익을 추구하는 ?관념적? 측면의 두 얼굴을 지닌다. 맑스주의 국가론은 국가를 지배계급의 도구화된 존재인 ?부분?으로 전락시킨 반면 국가중심적 국가론은 국가를 ?전체?로서의 관념화된 실체로 귀결시켰다. 푸코의 국가론을 포함하여 기존의 국가론에서 탈각된 ?문화?의 영역을 복구한 ?문화적 전환? 그룹의 국가론 역시 문화가 단순히 국가와 자본주의의 부수물이 아니라 독립적인 영역을 차지할 수 있는 의의를 부각시켰지만 ?문화적 구성주의?에 치중한 나머지 실재와 상상의 영역이 총체로 구성되는 측면을 간과했다. 이 논문은 문화적 전환 이후 ?국가의 인류학?의 흐름 속에서 발전한 국가론을 ?실재와 상상의 앙상블?로서 평가하고 북한의 사례연구 속에서 ?전체주의 속의 유격대국가?와 ?유격대국가의 극장국가화?를 통해 실재와 상상의 영역이 결합되는 국가의 모습을 분석한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The state is a paradoxical entity in that it is at once a real part of society and the imagined whole of society. The Marxist theory described the state as an instrument for the dominating class as a part of society whereas the state-centered theory regarded the state as an imagined entity of the whole of society. Based upon this debate, Foucault defined the state as a composite reality and a mythicized abstraction. However, the Cultural Turn group argues that existing studies ignore the role of culture in state research. The group believes that culture should not be taken simply as a dependent variable of the state or capitalism. Nevertheless, the cultural constructivism of the group does not take the state as an ensemble of reality and imagination seriously. Thus, I focus on the integrated process of the two faces of the state through the prism of the anthropology of the state. In particular, I will explore how the two faces of the guerrilla band state (violence and symbol) have been integrated into one real and imagined state in North Korea. In spite of its totalitarian images, North Korea has constructed and reconstructed the guerrilla band state by utilizing the techniques of the theater state.
