The purpose of this study was to investigate elementary teachers` understanding on the nature of science and science teaching. A total of 174 elementary teachers was involved and the data from questionnaire was gathered. The questionnaire was comprised of two categories, items on the nature of science and items on the science teaching. The questionnaire responses were analyzed through 2 factor analysis of variance and two categories were compared. The results showed that elementary teachers had not consistent views on the nature of science and science teaching. They had a little biased view toward classical philosophy of science, while they had a tendency toward modern philosophical view of science on the science teaching. In general, there was no significant difference in teachers` responses by sex and teaching career, but young male teachers showed a tendency toward modern philosophy of science, while young female teachers showed a tendency toward classical philosophy of science.
