『舊本老乞大』中的“哏”的語義和用法考察 ― 兼論其與現代漢語“很”的關聯 = The Semantic and Pragmatic Investigation of “哏” in Jiuben Lao Qida: With a Comparative Analysis of Its Connection to “很” in Modern Chinese

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper analyzes the semantic and pragmatic usage of the term "哏" in the Yuan Dynasty text Jiuben Lao Qida and compares it with "很" (hěn) in contemporary Chinese. The study finds that "哏" can modify both adjectives and verbs and is frequently used in contexts with high certainty to express an extremely strong degree or a tone of affirmation. In contrast, "很" in contemporary Chinese primarily functions to eliminate "contrast/opposition" or "incomplete semantic implications" in single-adjective predicate sentences, ultimately conveying an affirmative meaning. Although functional similarities between "哏" and "很" are observed, there is no definitive evidence to conclude that "很" in contemporary Chinese directly inherits its usage from "哏." Furthermore, similar patterns of usage for "哏" and "很" can be identified in certain dialects, yet this connection requires further investigation. Despite these uncertainties, this study provides a foundational basis for future research in related areas.
