      The recent controversy on the status and activity range of announcers has not yet been resolved. However, academic studies regarding such phenomenon hardly exist in the academic world.
      Hereupon, this research thesis has inspected the present situation of viewers of entertainment programs and has executed survey on the following research problems in order to investigate the characteristics of entertainment program announcer MC.
      First, what is the present audience condition of entertainment programs?
      Second, what are the characteristics of entertainment program announcer MC?
      Third, what is the response of viewers regarding the entertainment program announcer MC?
      Fourth, how do the characteristics of the entertainment program announcer MC influence the viewer response?
      According to survey results, entertainment programs were watched once a week, for at least 2 hours. The main motives for watching such programs were to gain laughter, benefit from the program, and kill time. Most viewers did not oppose the appearance of announcers in entertainment programs.
      Second, quickness in reacting to situations/sense of broadcasting, sense of humor/ wit, public popularity, personal background/broadcasting career were presented as importantly evaluated characteristics regarding the entertainment program announcer MC. Among the characteristics, high satisfaction was presented in characteristics of quickness in reacting to situations/sense of broadcasting, public popularity, and personal background/broadcasting career.
      Third, satisfaction in viewing entertainment program was classified into 3 elements. Harmony with the other MC was most positively evaluated in the element of progr am absorption, quickness in reacting to difficult situations was most positively evaluated in element of satisfaction in MC method, while aspect of waiting for next show was most positively evaluated in the liking of program.
      Fourth, it was presented that characteristics of entertainment program announcer MCs influenced satisfaction of viewers, fulfillment of viewing motive, and desire for re-viewing (subordinate variable).
      Hereupon, the researcher of this study has presented an improved direction regarding entertainment program announcer MC through the following 4 elements: first, the necessity of self-efforts of announcer, second, establishment of new status regarding entertainment program announcer MC, third, strengthening of professionalism of announcer, and fourth, improvement in problems of entertainment program announcer MCs.
