      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The word ecology is widely employed today in various academic field such as politics, economics and theology as well as biology. In these field, ecology is usally used to explain what a sustainable society is and how it can be built. In this context, the sustainable society refers to a social system with ecological harmony. Ecologists believe that present manners of living, encouraging increase of consumption, should be changed fundamentally to solve the impending global environmental crises. They think anti-population measures are needed to build a sustainable society because the only solution to reducing consumption is population control. Therefore, ecologists believe any policies to protect natural resources cannot succeed unless it is related to population control. Ecologists criticize human-centered thinking. In fact, if we protect wildlife only for our use in the future, we may not protect the animals themselves. Ecologists assert animal rights of survival. They also oppose humanism because this conflicts with natural law.
