렘브란트의 초기 유화 트로니들

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은, 17세기 네덜란드 화가 렘브란트 판 레인(Rembrandt van Rijn, 1606-1669)이 젊었던 시절 고향도시 레이덴(Leiden)에서 제작한, 화가의 초기 유화 트로니들을 다룬다. 논문은 트로니(Tronie)란 용어가 무엇을 뜻하는지, 회화장르로서의 트로니는 무엇인지 설명하는 것으로 시작한다. 그 다음, 렘브란트의 초기 유화 트로니 일곱 점을 선별해 본보기적으로 관찰함으로써 작품들의 공통된 특징들을 제시한다. 논문은 마지막으로 화가의 초기 유화 트로니들의 원래 기능이무엇이었는지를 논하며 끝이 난다. 렘브란트의 초기 유화 트로니들은 비교적 저렴한 미술작품들이었고, 젊은 렘브란트는 이 저렴한 트로니들을 통해 더 많은 미술 감상자들에게 자신의 미술을 알릴수 있었을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis treats the painted, so called ‘tronies’ which the seventeenth century Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) produced in his youth in his home city Leiden. This thesis begins with explaining what the term ‘tronie’ in the Dutch seventeenth century meant and what the tronie as a painting genre is. And then, this thesis selects seven painted tronie works of Rembrandt to study them as typical examples and finally to know the common characteristics of all Rembrandt’s early painted tronies. This study ends with an attempt to reconstruct the origin functions that the works had in the early seventeenth century Netherlands. The early painted tronies of Rembrandt were relatively cheap art works at that time and so Rembrandt as a young growing painter could probably let more art observers be aware of his painting and himself with those low-priced tronies.
