사진과 구술을 통해 본 민중의 삶과 터전 = Life and Place of People without History through the Gaze of Photography and Life History

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study interprets peoples life and its place in the 20th century much turbulent through the systemic combination of photography and oral history. Its framework is built on three concepts, the politics of representation, memory, and hospitality. The results are summarized in the followings. Firstly, it is not easy for me to find particular contents or trends because a few pictures and oral histories are examined. The representation of the pictures expressed the elementary school in a Japanese colonial period is simple while oral histories toward the elementary school are various and complex. Secondly, peoples life moved among regions or countries were so much painful. It is assumed that such a life causes the identity of person and his/her family to be dynamic and hybrid. Thirdly, many Koreans living in foreign countries are not respectful both in their homeland and in their presently living countries, and they are not sure about their identity by themselves. They are hospitably accepted as an independent person, not as an ethnic group and nationality exclusively operated.
