그람시적 대항 헤게모니의 현재적 의미와 그 가능성 -세계사회포럼의 탈자본 국제주의 운동을 중심으로 = The Meaning and Potential of Gramscien Resistance Hegemony under Globalization era -Focusing on Internationalism of the Out-of-Capital by World Social Forum

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper considers the potential of the alternative globalization movements to impact global institutions from a longer-term strategic point of view based on the outcomes of World Social Forum (WSF) and the inclusion of criticism of neo-liberalism in the World Economic Forum (WEF). The WSF is the internationally symbolic keystone to give strategic direction to the alternative globalization movements. In this paper critically adopting Gramsci`s concept of hegemony, we seek to analyze the characteristics of WEF and WSF in terms of hegemony. Gramsci contrasts the functions of governance (that is, direct, physical force) and hegemony (or, consent, guidance, ideological control) in order to distinguish between the two basic types of Western capitalist political control. Gramsci states that the re-formation of the traditional power structure, culture forms, and life styles must be accompanied by a fundamental and long-term resistance, and that the intellectual and moral world view that is newly-acquired during this process is resistance to hegemony. He asserts that such resistance hegemony should develop into comprehensive culture that is accepted by all aspects of life. Here, we will focus on the potential power of WSF as a resistance to WEF`s dominant hegemony. As Gramsci emphasized, if having cultural, intellectual, and ideological leadership, it won`t be difficult for alternative globalization groups to obtain resistance hegemony.
