아동 도서 서평의 현황과 내용 분석 : 정기간행 잡지의 서평을 중심으로 = Analysis of children's book reviews in periodical magazines

The purpose of this study was to examine the state of children's book reviews in periodical magazines and their characteristics in terms of content, as book reviews in periodical magazines are used as a means to select good children's books.
The following research questions were posed:
1. What is the state of book reviews on children's books in the periodical magazines?
2. What are the characteristics of the book reviews on children's books in the periodical magazines in terms of content?
2-1. What are the informative characteristics of the book reviews?
2-2. What are the critical characteristics of the book reviews?

The findings of the study on Research Question 1 were as follows:
First, there were great disparities in the each issue mean number of children's books that were reviewed in the eleven magazines. That ranged from a high of 11 to a low of 1.
Second, the occupations of the people who reviewed the books the most were professor and teacher.
Third, as for publishing companies of the books reviewed, the books published by large publishing companies such as Woongjin, Changbi and Sakyejul were often introduced.
Fourth, the rate of domestic books(74.8%) was far larger than that of translated books(25.2%).
The findings of the study on Research Question 2 were as follows:
First, nothing provided perfect information on bibliography among the book reviews that analyzed content, and all the book reviews contained information on the names of book, author and publishing company.
Second, there were no differences among the book reviews according to the type of books, and the magazines were different from one another in information on items reviewed.
Based on the findings of the study, the following conclusion was reached:
First, a professional magazine for book review on children's book is required. Second, the selection criteria of books to be reviewed must be mentioned in principle. Third, the preparation of a book review index system is necessary to grasp the state of book reviews on children's books.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 해마다 규모가 커져가는 아동 도서 시장에서 좋은 아동 도서를 선택하기 위한 하나의 방법으로 사용하는 정기간행 잡지에 게재되는 아동 도서 서평의 현황과 내용을 분석하여 우리나라 아동 도서 서평을 보다 적극적으로 활용할 수 있는 방안을 살펴보는 데 그 목적이 있다.

이와 같은 목적을 달성하기 위하여 설정한 연구 문제는 다음과 같다.

[연구문제 1] 정기간행 잡지에 게재되는 아동 도서 서평 현황은 어떠한가?

[연구문제 2] 정기간행 잡지에 게재되는 아동 도서 서평의 내용적 특징은 어떠한가?


[연구문제 1]에 대한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다.

첫째, 정기간행 잡지에 게재되는 아동 도서 서평 기사 수는 잡지마다 매 호 평균 1건에서 11건까지 다양하게 나타났다.
둘째, 서평 작성자의 직업 중 교수/교사가 차지하는 비율이 가장 높았다. 다음으로 출판인, 문인/예술인 순으로 나타났다.
셋째, 서평 되는 도서의 출판사 빈도는 웅진주니어, 창비, 사계절 등 대형 출판사가 출판한 책들이 자주 소개되었다.
넷째, 번역 도서보다 국내 도서가 서평 되는 비율이 높았다.

[연구문제 2]에 대한 연구 결과는 다음과 같다.

첫째, 정보적 측면에서 완전한 서지 정보와 서평 정보를 제공하는 서평은 하나도 없었고, 공통적으로 포함하고 있는 요소는 도서명과 저자명, 출판사이다.
둘째, 도서 유형에 따른 비평적 측면의 차이점은 없었고, 항목에 대한 기재는 잡지마다 다른 것으로 나타났다.

이 연구 결과를 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 내릴 수 있었다.

첫째, 아동 도서 전문 서평지가 더 필요하다. 지금 존재하는 단 하나의 아동 도서 전문 서평지만으로는 독자가 충분한 정보를 얻기에 부족하다. 둘째, 서평이 되는 도서의 선정기준을 반드시 기재하는 것을 원칙으로 해야 한다. 선정기준 제시를 통해 잡지와 서평에 대한 신뢰성 확보가 필요하다. 셋째, 아동 도서 서평의 현황을 파악하기 위한 서평 색인이 필요하다.
