읽기 관여(reading engagement) 개념 정립을 위한 시론 = An Essay about Reading Engagement

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 읽기(교육) 분야에서 관여(engagement)의 개념을 정립하기 위한 시론으로서의 성격을 지닌다. 읽기 교육의 용어로 관여의 개념을 정립하기 위해 이에 본고에서는 ‘engagement’, ‘engaged’라는 용어와 표현이 교육학 일반, 뇌인지 과학, 그리고 읽기 및 리터러시 교육 분야 등에서 사용되는 맥락을 검토하였다. 분석 결과, 관여 개념의 구성 요소로 ‘전략적 노력’, ‘자발적 참여’, ‘몰두와 열중’ 등이 주로 다루어지며, 관여 개념은 무언가를 열심히 행하는 주체의 특성을 함축하는 의미역을 지님을 확인하였다. 또한 관여 패러다임 하에서 독자상과 읽기 수행의 특성이 어떻게 설명될 수 있을지를 살펴보았다. 또한 읽기 교육의 용어로서 관여 개념을 정리하기 위한 선행 작업으로 1) 전략적임의 의미역 확장, 2) 행위주도적 독자상 정립, 3) 한국 문화 특성을 반영한 읽기 관여 개념 및 구성 요소의 타당화 등을 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study has the character of being an idea to establish the concept of engagement in the field of reading education. In order to establish the concept of engagement as a term of reading education, we examined the context in which the terms 'engagement' and 'engaged' are used in education, brain cognitive science, and reading and literacy education. As a result of the analysis, “strategic effort”, “voluntary participation”, “enthusiasm and enthusiasm” are mainly dealt with as components of the concept of engagement, and the concept of engagement has a meaning that implies the characteristics of a subject who is doing something hard. We also examined how the characteristics of readers can be explained under the paradigm of Engagement. In addition, as a preliminary task to summarize the concept of engagement as a term of reading education, 1) expanding of the concept of ‘strategic’, 2) establishing an agentic reader-oriented image, and 3) validity of the concept of reading engagement reflecting the characteristics of Korean culture.
