This study investigats the effects of four different teaching methods on young children`s emotional and logical thinking. The four teaching methods are Teacher-initiated discussion, Inquiry area-centered, Expression-Social Relationship area-centered, and the Integrated teaching method. Subjects were 80 children who attended two kindergartens. Their mean age was 5 years and 2 months old. Subjects were randomly assigned to one control group and three experimental groups. The `Emotional Intelligence Test` and the `Multidimensional Cognitive Abilities Test for Children` were used in the collection of data. ANOVA and Duncan were used to analyze the data and the significant effects of the teaching methods were analyzed. The results of the current study indicate that there were significant differences between the control and experimental groups. Overall, among the four teaching methods examined, the Integrated teaching method was the most effective for promoting young children`s emotional and logical thinking. The teacher-initiated discussion method group (control group) scored lowest in both th emotional intelligence and logical intelligence tests. Implications of these findings are discussed.
