알코올중독자의 자살시도경험 = A Phenomenological study on the suicide attempts among alcoholics

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 자살 고위험집단인 알코올중독자들의 자살시도경험의 본질적 의미를 탐색하기 위한 연구로 현상학적 연구방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구 참여자는 알코올의존으로 진단받고, 자살시도경험이 있는 8명의 남성들을 대상으로 2012년 3월부터 6월까지 심층면접을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. Colaizzi의 7개 과정에 따라 분석한 결과, 알코올중독자 자살시도경험의 본질적 구조로서 14개의 주제와 5개의 주제묶음이 도출되었다. 최종 도출된 자살시도경험의 5개 주제묶음은 ``알코올중독의 늪``, ``끝없는 추락``,``술을 쥐고 죽음을 향한 질주``, ``술과 자살의 이중가면``, ``이중굴레의 고통 속에서 살아나가기``로 나타났다. 연구결과 알코올중독자들은 알코올중독으로 인한 고통과 문제에서 벗어 나고자 술을 이용한 자살시도를 하고, 자살시도 후 여전한 고통을 경험하지만 알코올중독자 자살이라는 이중굴레 속에서 단주와 삶이라는 회복과정을 터덕거리며 살아나가는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과에 기반하여 알코올중독자의 자살문제에 대해 심층적으로 논의하고, 이들에 대한 정신보건사회복지 실천방안을 제시하였다.

Alcoholism has been associated with an increased risk of suicide attempts. This study aimed to explore meaning and essence of suicide attempts among alcoholics. By answering the question "What is the essence on suicide attempt experiences of alcoholics?", phenomenological approach by Colaizzi used for data analysis. The data were collected through in-depth interview with 8alcoholisc who had suicide attempt history. As results, 14categories appeared from 5themes as data analysis. These themes were characterized as follows; ``Entering alcoholism swamp``, ``Entering vicious cycle``, ``Full speed towards suicide with alcohol``, ``Two-sided meaning of suicide and drinking``, ``Living with dual restriction``. Based on these findings, we have discussed the meaning of suicide attempts of alcoholics and suggested effective social work intervention services. The importance of integrative interventions in suicidal alcoholics were identified with a focus on priorities and directions for future study.
