광주지역 중학생의 화장실태와 외모만족도, 자아존중감에 관한 연구 = A study on Makeup Status, Appearance Satisfaction, and Self-Esteem of Middle School Students in Kwangju Area

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was conducted to identify the makeup status of middle school students in Gwangju and to find out the relationship between appearance satisfaction and self-esteem to provide basic data for the development of a makeup education program that is physically and psychologically suitable for middle school students. As a result of investigating the makeup status of middle school students, 46.4% of middle school students frequently or always use basic cosmetics, 60.5% of middle school students do not use color cosmetics, and 57.5% of middle school students do not use functional cosmetics. As a result of the analysis of the correlation with appearance satisfaction, it was found that body image satisfaction and subjective appearance satisfaction were statistically significant positive (+) correlated with individual self-esteem, domestical self-esteem, and social self-esteem by subfactors of self-esteem (p<.001), and that the desire to improve appearance by subfactors of appearance satisfaction was statistically significant negative (-) correlation with individual self-esteem, domestical self-esteem, and social self-esteem by subfactors of self-esteem (p<.001). In addition, as a result of analyzing the effect of appearance satisfaction on self-esteem, it was found that among middle school students’ appearance satisfaction, the higher the body image satisfaction and subjective appearance satisfaction, the higher the personal self-esteem, family self-esteem, and social self-esteem. As a result, since we have identified the actual makeup status of middle school students and confirmed that appearance satisfaction affects self-esteem, it is necessary to develop a program to improve the appearance satisfaction and self-esteem of middle school students through proper makeup education.
