This study was conducted to investigate perception and appraisal for public benefits to private gardens. As a. method, color-slide surrogates for garden landscape settimgs' are shown to students. For a given 26 scenes of garden landscape the respondents(75) judeged the public benefits along a five point scale.
The findings are as follows;
The public benefits are influenced by attributes and forms of gardening. These are 'unbelongingness: environmental disorder', 'physical screen; openness', 'visual screen', 'amounts of greenery', 'familiarity of material' and 'high trees greenary'.
