청소년의 부모 및 또래관계와 비행행동 간의 관계에서 사회기술의 매개효과 = The Effect of Parental and Peer Relations on Adolescent Delinquency : Mediating Effect of Social Skills

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study explored how parental and peer relations affect social skills and whether these social skills would take a mediating role in the path of parental and peer relations leading to adolescent delinquency. This study utilized the panel data from the research of Korean children and adolescents which was conducted in 2009 by the Ministry for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs. The sample consisted of 2,306 participants ranging in age from 12 to 18 years. The data was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Results showed that both parental relations and peer relations have significant effects on social skills. Additionally, peer relations are more influential to social skills than parental relations. This result supports the Social Learning Theory that social skills in adolescents will likely be more affected by peers. Finally, social skills are significantly mediated both parental and peer relations to affect adolescent delinquency, thus the Social Disability Model was supported by this study. The findings of this study highlight the importance of social skills to prevent adolescent delinquency in Korean society.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 청소년기의 부모관계 및 또래관계가 비행행동에 미치는 영향에 있어서 사회기술의 매개효과를 검증하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 한국아동청소년종합실태조사(2009) 자료를 이용하여, 만12~18세의 청소년 2,306명을 대상으로 구조방정식 모형분석을 실시하고 매개효과를 검증하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 부모관계와 또래관계가 모두 사회기술에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 부모관계보다는 또래관계가 청소년의 사회기술에 더 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 또래관계에서 필요한 사회기술은 또래관계를 통해 학습해야 한다는 사회학습이론을 지지하였다. 셋째, 부모관계와 또래관계가 청소년의 비행행동으로 이어지는 경로에서 사회기술의 매개효과가 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 나타나 사회무능력모델을 지지하였다. 이러한 결과는 비행문제 접근에 있어서 사회기술의 중요성을 강조한 것으로, 비행에 대해 보다 다양한 접근을 가능케 했다는 데 그 의의가 있다. 끝으로 후속연구를 위한 제언을 하였다.
