明의 제2차 紅夷砲 구매와 관련된 두 문서: 「報效始末疏」와 「貢銃效忠疏」 = Two Diplomatic Documents Related with the Second Purchase of Culverin from Macao by the Ming Dynasty: The Loyalty Report and the Cannon Report

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The detailed commentary translations of the Loyalty Report and the Cannon Report into Korean are provided, These reports describe the facts that the government of the Ming dynasty bought culverin cannons from the Portuguese in Macao. The Loyalty Report was written in 15th day of the ninth month in 1628 by senate of Portuguese in Macao, and was submitted to the Ming dynastic government in the 17th day of the first month of 1630. The latter or the Cannon Report was written by João Rodrigues and submitted along with The Loyalty Report. The former insists that the residence of Portuguese in Macao should be legalized under the law of the Ming dynasty, and also that the newly-rising Netherlands should be excluded by the government of the Ming dynasty. The latter describes in detail the itinerary of the Portuguese military delegate from Macao to Beijing. The Cannon Report briefed with comments by Han Lin describes the whereabouts of Teixeira and Rodrigues after meeting the ambassador Chong. According to the description, Teixeria and others died in Dengzhou battle with rebellions during the Wuqiao rebellion of 1631 to 1632, and Rodrigues desperately escaped from Dengzhou and finally returned back to Macao to die a few month later. Thus, even if the ambassador Chong’s proposal to learn the production method of both culverine and niter through Rodrigues had been accepted by the Choson government, the proposal could not be carried out.
