일루미네이션디자인을 통한 디자인 교육 실행 연구 : 성경 텍스트를 활용한 디자인 교과목 개발 사례를 중심으로 = An Action Research on Design Education through Illumination Design -A Case Study Using Bible Texts to Develop a Design Subject

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 부산크리스마스트리문화축제의 일루미네이션디자인 개발 프로젝트를 통해 성경의 텍스트를 활용하여 디자인 교육을 진행한 실행연구이다. 부산크리스마스트리문화축제는 부산의 구도심인 광복동거리에서 매년 연말에 진행되는 대표적인 겨울축제로서, 일루미네이션이 주를 이루는 빛축제이다. 빛축제를 위한 일루미네이션디자인은 해당 축제의 주제와 내용적 콘텐츠를 심도있게 연구하여 이를 빛조형물의 외형에 담아내는 일이며, 형태와 색, 빛소재의 다양한 물리적 특성, 연출 등을 고려하여 디자인 하는 것으로, 디자인 교육의 새로운 콘텐츠로 적합하다. 교육의 측면에 있어서 새로운 교육 콘텐츠의 개발은 늘 필요하며 특히 창조성과 독창성이 강조되는 디자인 교육에 있어서는 더욱 그러한데, 일루미네이션에서 활용되는 빛소재의 물리적ž조형적 특성은 이를 충족시킨다. 본 연구는 2014년도 2학기와 2015년 1학기에 동서대학교 산학협력형 디자인 수업으로 진행된 '일루미네이션디자인'교과목을 통해 부산크리스마스트리문화축제를 위한 일루미네이션 프로젝트를 실행함으로서, 일루미네이션디자인을 새로운 디자인 교육 콘텐츠로 개발하고 또한 성경의 텍스트를 디자인 교육의 콘텐츠로 활용하는 아이디어를 제시하고자 하였다. 연구의 방법과 내용은 첫째로, 일루미네이션의 개념과 특성을 고찰하여 빛소재를 활용한 새로운 디자인 교육 콘텐츠로서의 일루미네이션디자인을 제안하였다. 둘째로 내용을 시각화 하는 유형의 디자인 조형 교육 콘텐츠로서 성경 텍스트의 대중성, 서사성, 소재다양성, 조형성, 스토리텔링, 창의성의 특성을 기술하였으며, 컨셉을 시각화된 외형으로 발현시키는 디자인 교육 콘텐츠로 적합성을 설명하였다. 셋째로 실행 프로젝트인 부산크리스마스트리축제의 일루미네이션 영역과 범위, 분류, 스토리텔링 전개를 서술하였다. 넷째로 일루미네이션디자인 교과목의 실행에 관하여 교육 목표와 기대효과, 교육 방법과 평가 방법, 주제와 스토리텔링 전개, 그리고 프로젝트의 실행을 통해 개발된 일루미네이션디자인의 결과물과 각 조형물의 성경 텍스트 시각화 내용을 서술하였다. 성경 콘텐츠를 활용한 부산크리스마스트리문화축제 일루미네이션 개발 프로젝트는 디자인 교육 콘텐츠로써 조형 교육 뿐 아니라 디자인을 통해 대중의 참여와 소통을 경험하는 디자인의 교육적 실천으로서의 의미를 가지며, 학생이 지역의 문화 창조에 기여하는 기회를 제공하고, 학교와 지역사회의 협업을 통하여 지역사회와 문화에 대한 자긍심을 가지게 하였다. 더불어 이 디자인 교육프로그램의 결과는 일루미네이션 산업에서의 디자인의 기여 가치를 강화하도록 제안하는 데에 기여하였다 할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is based on using texts found in the Bible to build the lights in the Busan Christmas Tree Festival and applying it to the formative design education. The festival is located in the city of Busan in the Gwangbok area in a street adorned with religious landmarks. It is a classical winter festival that happens at the end of every year with the Christmas lights being the main attraction. It is necessary to do an in depth study of the theme and content of this festival in order to include those concepts in the appearance of the light sculptures. The various physical attributes, form and color, the direction and other aspects of light mu be considered to create the designs. Therefore, it is possible to say that illumination is a suitable new content for design education. There is a constant need to develop new educational content for design education in schools. Subjects of design education require creativity and originality and illumination design, studying the properties of light, contains both. In the second semester of 2014 and the first semester of 2015, the Busan Christmas Tree Festival was a project given to a design class where students needed to cooperate with firms on an "Illumination Design". This was the beginning of developing Illumination design as a new content for design education and using Bible texts was the means to learn formative design. The method and content of this study is divided into four parts. The first part, consists of the concepts and attributes of illumination to suggest illumination design as a new content for design education. The second, describes the visual contents of formative design education, such as public appeal, narrativity, variations in material use, formativeness, storytelling and creativity of Bible text use. It is an explanation and expression of a visual concept through design. The third section, analyzes the field, classification, and storytelling development of the illumination in the Busan Christmas Tree Festival. Lastly, the fourth part, describes the goals and expected results of an illumination class in design schools, the teaching and evaluation methods, and the development of themes and storytelling. Through the light festival project, visualization methods of illumination design were developed, specifically in the interpretation of Bible texts using lights. Using Bible contents in the illumination project of the Busan Christmas Tree Festival gave the students an opportunity to create a local culture. Through the cooperation of the school and local community, the students were able to gain a sense of pride for their community and culture, but was also given an opportunity to communicate with the local people while building their portfolio with a real life case. The results of this design education program which may have contributed to propose to enhance the contribution value of the design in the illumination industry.
