      This study suggested to describe the features of JPEG format as a master file digitization entity. JPEG format supports irreversible lossless compression through DCT coefficient algorithm. This means that it can guarantee the authenticity, reliability, integrity and usability as a its master file digitization entity from only at the time of being scanned. JPEG format patent right has been expired on 2014, so it has no possibility to violate its patent right. To sustain the master image file`s quality consistently, I suggest that image quality management process should be defined and to synchronize the digitization of process with the unified Calibration, ICC profiles and Exif metadata.
