『새한글성경』 마가복음 접속사 번역의 적절성 연구 - 접속사 καί 번역을 중심으로 = A Study on th Appropriateness of the Translation of the Conjunctions in the Gospel of Mark in the New Korean Bible

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 『새한글성경』의 마가복음 번역에서 헬라어 접속사 καί의 번역에 대해 분석하고, 그 적절성을 평가하고 대안을 찾는 데 목적이 있다. 마가복음은 네 복음서 가운데 접속사 καί의 사용 빈도가 가장 높은데 이는 마가복음 특유의 긴박한 사건 전개와 문체의 연속성을 구성하는 중요한 요소이다. 하지만『새한글성경』의 마가복음 번역은 해당 접속사의 기능과 맥락을 충분히 반영하지 못하고, 이따금 일관성 없는 처리와 어색한 표현으로 번역함으로써 독자의 이해에 혼란을 줄 가능성이 있다. 본고는 마가복음 전체에서 καί의 용례를 살펴 『새한글성경』의 번역 방식이 원문의 의미와 문체에 어떻게 부합하거나 이탈하는지를 분석한다. 더 나아가 우리말 어법에 적합하면서도 원문의 특징을 보존할 수 있는 대안적 번역 방향을 제안한다. 이를 통해 다매체 시대의 독자들에게 보다 정확하고 자연스러운 성경 번역을 제공하는 데 이바지하려 한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study aims to analyze the translation status of the Greek conjunction καί in the translation of the Gospel of Mark in the New Korean Bible, and evaluate its appropriateness, and find alternatives. The Gospel of Mark has the highest frequency of using the conjunction καί among the four Gospels, which is an important element that constitutes the continuity of the tense development of events and style unique to the Gospel of Mark. However, the translation of the Gospel of Mark in the New Korean Bible does not sufficiently reflect the function and context of the conjunction, and sometimes translates it with inconsistent treatment and awkward expressions, which may confuse readers’ understanding. This paper examines the usage of καί throughout the Gospel of Mark and analyzes how the translation method of the New Korean Bible conforms to or deviates from the meaning and style of the original text. Furthermore, it proposes an alternative translation direction that is suitable for Korean grammar while preserving the characteristics of the original text. Through this, it aims to contribute to providing readers in the multimedia era with a more accurate and natural Bible translation.
