    This paper was studied on the effect of the exhaust gas recirculation rate for the exhaust emission gas with various speed in the four cycle, one cylinder, water cooled, natural aspiration and direct injection type.
    The NOx emission increased with the high load and speed, but in using the EGR method, the emission rate was decreased, and soot emission is increased slowly at law load or at low speed and increased rapidly at high load and EGR rate, also the optimal range of EGR rate was 20 - 30%.
