사민주의와 기민주의의 이념적 대립과 현실적 융합에 관한 연구 = A Study on the Nature of the Neo Social Democratism in Europe: Focusing on the Relationship with Christ Democracy

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In Europe, both social democratic party and christ democratic party had tried to differentiate its own party from the other in order to develop its own unique political ideology. This differentiation resulted in a conflict relationship between two parties and each party employed different policies based on its own political ideology. However, each party showed a tendency to accommodate the counterpart party’s political ideology and policy when there were dramatic political, economic, and social changes. During the late 60’s and early 70’s in which there were a rapid economic growth and the expansion of welfare state, christ democratic party became “Social Democratization” and christ democratic party accepted the concept of employment & distribution and the principles of social security. On the contrary, social democratic party which became a ruling party since late 90’s tried to become “Christ Democratization” in order to increase the nation’s competitiveness in an effort to cope with the collapse of Eastern Europe and globalization. For this reason, social democratic party accommodated policies such as the reduction of social welfare expenditure, and minimization of governmental intervention into economic issues in order to increase the flexibility of labor market and economic revitalization. At the same time, the social democratic party is taking “the third road” to maintain the characteristics of equality principle as a welfare state by sustaining the principles of full employment and redistribution of wealth which is important for the dispersion of social risk. This trends is a sign of modernization in welfare system which aims at heightening of nation’s competitiveness in terms of economic perspective and promoting high quality welfare state in terms of social perspective.
