In this article I have inquired into several issues recently argued in regards to the frontier of the king Sung in Paekche dynasty.
First of all, I pointed out the fact that a more circumstantial discussion should be carried out regarding the concept of frontier or border in the korean ancient history.
Secondly, I criticized insists that Paekche eventually acquired the region surrounding the Han River during the king Muryeong, and has lost the area to Koguryo in the early era of the king Sung. My speculation is that the effort to launch a traffic route to China, which began after the king Muryeong, enabled Paekche to embark in the surrounding areas of Han River. I have confirmed that Paekche's acquiring of the area surrounding the Han River was a result of forming of unified entity of Paekche, Shillar and Kaya which incidentally took place after the movement of capital of Paekche.
Finally, I investigated two theories behind the background of how Shillar took possession of the surrounding areas of the Han River from Paekche. The unification of Shillar and Koguryo following the possession of surrounding areas of the Han River influenced the movement of Kaya in a great deal. So Paekche had to prioritize which area between the Han River and Kaya they would value the most. As a result Paekche gave up the fight against the Han River temporary to be able to assure acquiring of the Kaya area, and ended up concentrating on the war against Shillar rather than against Koguryo.
