This Study was to analyze the recognition of the Korean press on educational reality and its problems which was expressed in editorials of Chosun Ilbo, JungAng Ilbo, and Dong-a Ilbo after departure of Kim Dae Jung government. The three newspapers recognized that Korean education was collapsed or was on the verge of collapse. They thought two factors were the major causes of educational collapse in Korea. The one was the policy failure of ministry of education, and the other was the insufficient quality of teacher. They indicated educational equalization system and university entrance examination system etc. as representative wrong policies. The three newspapers suggested that educational equalization policy be abolished or reduced to overcome educational crisis, and that competitive system be introduced into teaching profession. The reports of these newspapers contained four major problems; Firstly, they treated lightly the fundamental cause of educational crisis in Korea. The crisis of Korean education was caused from the social climate of success for success' sake, and so it is necessary to change radically this climate to overcome educational crisis. However, focusing on the first-class university, they promote the excessive competition for university entrance examination and the social climate of success for success' sake. Secondly, they are little interested in the tasks which are pursued and achieved in elementary and secondary education. They overemphasize the competitive power and the excellence of education and elementary and secondary education is reported only with regard to university entrance. Thirdly, the reports are inconsistent. As seen in their changeable and arbitrary evaluation on the policy of ministry of equation, they report impromptu and sensationally with no clear criteria. Fourthly, the reports of these newspapers make educational reality worse rather than serve to normalize it. Especially, educational authority was fallen down rapidly by irresponsible reports on the accidents concerning teachers, and educational crisis was accelerated.
