드라마 <슈룹>의 새로운 모성상과 현대적 수용 가능성 - 자기수용을 통한 양육 태도의 변용 의미를 중심으로 = A New Image of Motherhood in the Drama <Shuroop> and Its Acceptability among Modern Mothers - Focusing on the Meaning of Altering Parenting Attitudes through Self-Acceptance

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 드라마 <슈룹>의 중전 화령 서사를 중심으로 고전적 공간에서 재구성되는 새로운 모성상의 특징을 분석하고, 현대 어머니 수용자의 자기수용 및 양육 태도 변용 가능성을 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 화령의 모성 수행 양상과 서사 전개 과정을 분석하고, 그 결과로 도출되는 모성상의 특성을 현대 수용자의 심리적·정서적 경험과 연결하여 해석하였다.
화령의 모성상은 첫째, 자녀의 개별적 차이를 결함이 아닌 고유한 정체성으로 수용하는 존재적 승인에 기반한다. 이는 부모-자녀 간의 동일시를 해체하고 자녀를 독립된 타자로 인식하게 하는 전환적 계기를 제공한다. 둘째, 화령은 주체적 리더십을 발휘하면서도 양육 과정의 한계와 통제 불가능성을 인정하는 유연함을 통해 완벽한 모성이라는 강박을 완화한다. 셋째, 화령은 고통과 무력감 등 부정적 감정을 억압하지 않고 가시화하는 자기자비(Self-Compassion)적 태도를 통해 자기 이해와 정서적 회복의 기제를 형성한다.
이러한 화령의 모성상은 현대 어머니 수용자들에게 자녀와의 관계를 재인식하고, 어머니로서의 자기 존재를 있는 그대로 수용할 수 있는 성찰적 모델을 제시한다. 나아가 감정의 직면과 수용을 통한 자기 회복이 경직된 양육 태도를 유연하게 변용하는 실천적 동력이 될 수 있음을 시사한다. 결론적으로 <슈룹>의 서사는 대중문화 텍스트가 수용자의 내면적 성찰을 매개하고 양육 담론의 대안적 수용 가능성을 확장하는 데 기여할 수 있음을 입증한다.

Hwaryeong’s motherhood is characterized by three key aspects: Existential Approval: Accepting children’s differences as unique identities rather than flaws, recognizing them as independent individuals.
Flexible Leadership: Relieving the obsession with "perfect motherhood" by acknowledging the limitations and uncontrollability of parenting.
Self-Compassion: Embracing negative emotions like pain and helplessness to foster emotional recovery and self-understanding.
Ultimately, Hwaryeong provides contemporary mothers with a reflective model to embrace themselves and flexibly transform rigid parenting attitudes. The drama demonstrates how popular culture can facilitate internal reflection and offer alternative perspectives on parenting discourses.
