Family violence is reproduced by those who have witnessed and/or experienced family violence during their childhood. It is because that those children have learned to use violence by way of resolving stresses and have formed a permissive attitude towards violence. Therefore family violence can be prevented by changing that attitude. The purpose of this study is to investigate current circumstances of violence against wives(V/W) and violence against children(V/C) which have been experienced by undergraduate students and to understand their attitudes towards violence by means of questionnaire(Straus CTS2 Korean version) so as to provide useful data for developing aggressive prevention programs about family violence. According to the research finding, the proportions of psychological aggression, physical assault, and injury in the types of V/W and V/C are high and the incidence rate of psychological aggression is higer than that of physical assault. In all subtypes, mild degree violence incidence rates are higher than those of severe ones with regard to V/W while in the subtype of physical assault with regard to C/W, severe degree violence rate is higher than mild one. The attitude that family violence is permissible showed a middle range score. In order to prevent family violence it is required to administer any preventive program to the adolescence to change their permissible attitude toward violence into non-permissible. The other suggests a preventive program based the rational-emotive approach.
