뉴미디어 아트 작품 제작을 위한 새로운 통합적 저작 도구에 대한 연구 = A Research on an Integrated Authorware for the New Media Art

With the art trend based on the modern technology, New Media Art has expressed artistry through various mediums in addition to traditional tools, such as the existing painting and sculpture. However, this new genre also needs a companion called technology at the same time. Besides, in the chasm between those two different domains, New Media Art came to have a possibility as a new art.
Authorwares or techniques used for New Media Art have been created by technologists or engineers mostly according to the engineering or industrial needs. Since those tools are made on the basis of industrial criteria, there are quite a few of inconvenient aspects in carrying out art works.
For new media artists to carry out efficient work activities, it is needed to create an authorware with integrated functions. The necessity of such an integrated tool is the very solution to various inefficient problems for media artists to cope with by the time when artists overcome the expressional limits of the existing authorwares, take time to master and use the technology linking authorwares with each other. Thus, this new integrated authorware should be intuitional and convenient when used.
On the basis of the demands of experts such as artists, engineers and art curators, the purpose of this study is established an authorware in the integration type of an artist-oriented interaction interface. Moreover, for art directors and technology developers to share various opinions and select their requests, the study suggests a new integrated authorware specialized in New Media Art on the purpose of developing a new tool through constant discussions from the planning stage.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

뉴미디어 아트는 기술 기반의 예술 경향으로 기존의 회화, 조각 등 전통적인 도구 이외에 다양한 매체를 통하여 예술성을 표현하고자 한다. 한편 이 새로운 장르는 그 특성상 필연적으로 기술이라는 동반자를 필요로 하는데, 지금까지 뉴미디어 아트에 사용되어온 저작 도구나 기술들은 대부분 근원적으로 공학적 필요나 산업적 필요에 의해 만들어졌던 것이었기에 예술 창작 작업을 하기에는 불편한 점이 많았다.
뉴미디어 아티스트의 효율적인 작품 활동을 위해서는 통합적 기능을 가진 새로운 저작도구가 필요하며 이러한 통합 도구의 필요성은 기존 저작도구가 가지고 있는 표현 한계 및 숙달을 위한 소요 시간, 저작도구 사이의 연계성 등에서 도출된다. 이와 같이 통합적 저작 도구는 아티스트가 사용할 경우, 비효율적이고 장애가 되는 다양한 문제점에 대한 해결안이 될 수 있으며 구조적으로는 사용자 중심적인 동시에 직관적인 구조를 가지는 특색을 가지게 된다.
본 연구에 제안하는 뉴미디어 아트에 특화된 새로운 통합적 저작도구는 아티스트, 공학기술자, 전시 기획자 등과 같은 미디어아트 분야의 전문가들이 그들의 작업에 있어 제시한 요구를 토대로 아티스트 중심의 상호작용 인터페이스를 가진 통합적 저작도구 개발을 목표로 하고 있으며, 나아가 전시 운영자와 개발자간의 다양한 의견 공유 및 요구사항 선정을 위해서 기획 단계부터 지속적으로 논의하여 프로토타입을 개발하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
