The purpose of this study was to develop a counseling program that would help children adjust to the difficulties after their parents` divorce and that would mitigate the ensuing psychological issues of the children. At the end, the effectiveness of the counseling program was evaluated by several methods. The subjects of this study were three families who participated in the counseling program as part of the procedure of their divorce cases. I am in charge of counseling children in the Ansan Family Court which operates this counseling program to address issues between couples in the process of divorce. I counsel the parents by applying play therapy methods and finally I decide which of the parents would provide better conditions for both the psychological and material needs of their children. The program was composed of ten sessions with each child, including preliminary counseling after which play therapy methods were applied. The program was measured by the following methods: Reporting and analysing the contents of counseling sessions to investigate the effects on the participant`s family, practicing MiM before and after counseling to investigate the changes in the relationship between parents and children, evaluating the results of investigation by Marschak MiM, and testing the significancy by T -test. The results indicated that counseling parents and children during divorce appeared to show an improvement in the relationship between parents and children. As a result of the MiM test, there were significant differences in the parent-child relationship: Thus, counseling children during their parents` divorce procedures was significantly effective in improving the parent-child relationship.
