음악 전시에서의 뮤지킹(Musicking) 콘텐츠 연구 - 독일 라이프치히 슈만하우스(Schumann-Haus Leipzig) 사례를 중심으로 - = A Study on the Musicking Contents in Music Exhibition - Focused on the Case of Schumann-Haus Leipzig in Germany -

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 무형의 대상이자 청각으로 전달되고 향유되는 시간 예술인 음악을 어떻게 전시할 수 있는가에 대한 질문에서 출발한다. 음악을 모두가 능력껏 만들어 가고 참여하는 ‘행위와 관계’로 인식한 C. 스몰의 ‘뮤지킹’ 개념에 주목하고, 작곡가·연주자·청중이 분리된 정격연주와 감상이 아닌, 관계적이고 수행적 음악 경험을 선사하는 독일 라이프치히 슈만하우스의 뮤지킹 콘텐츠를 분석하였다. 슈만 부부가 결혼 초 4년간 실제 거주하며 작곡과 연주, 교류를 이어간 이곳은 텍스트·유물·시청각 중심의 기존 전시 방식을 넘어, 두 음악가의 삶과 사랑, 연주와 여행, 훈련과 내면 여정을 인터랙티브 사운드와 미디어 콘텐츠로 경험하게 한다. 관람객은 감각적·공간적으로 과거와 작곡가의 행위와 관계 속에 위치하고 참여함으로써, 음악을 고정된 사물이 아닌, 함께 하는 시간의 감각이자, 인간적 행위이자 관계로서 이해하게 된다. 이러한 음악적 사교와 친밀성의 경험을 통해 삶과 공동체, 예술의 관계에 대한 성찰로 초대한다는 점에서 동시대 음악 전시 기획에 중요한 이론적·실천적 시사점을 제공한다.

This study begins with the question of how music—an immaterial and temporal art transmitted and experienced through sound—can be exhibited. Focusing on Christopher Small’s concept of “musicking,” which understands music as an “activity and relationship”, this study analyzes the musicking contents of the Schumann-Haus Leipzig in Germany. The house, where Robert and Clara Schumann lived during the first years of their marriage moves beyond traditional exhibition methods based on texts, artifacts, and audiovisual materials. It enables visitors to experience the couple’s lives and love, performances and travels, training and inner journeys through interactive sound and media contents. By sensorially and spatially positioning themselves within the composers’ actions and relationships of the past, visitors come to understand music not as a fixed object, but as a shared temporal experience, a human activity, forming community.
