Flow-visualization experiments were conducted in a wind tunnel for the flowfields around body models of a racing car to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics of the selected body models with unique design. As a result, some components with blunt edges attached to the streamlined main body of a racing car such as an engine air-intake and a refrigerator air-intake were the major factors of deteriorating the aerodynamic characteristics of a racing car.
The result of flow visualizations with smoke-wire technique can be utilized for the preliminary car styling of improve the performance of a racing car.
