The purpose of this study is to investigate whether or not Korean kindergarten teachers in China have knowledge of Korean traditional play and whether or not they use such play in the educational settings. Four hundred fifty three Korean kindergarten teachers in China responded to a questionnaire developed by this researcher. The findings of this study are as follows. The majority of teachers responded that they knew 14 Korean traditional forms of play appropriate for kindergarten children and had played them. They also thought that Korean traditional play should be included in educational curriculum as a means of establishing the children`s identity as Korean. On the other hand, the majority of teachers didn`t include Korean traditional play in their kindergarten curriculum. The chief reason given was that they didn`t know how to apply play in educational curriculum and further, they had difficulties due to lack of Korean traditional play materials So, the teachers indicated that they would like training in the use of appropriate Korean traditional play in the educational setting and they also would like to know how they might construct Korean traditional play materials.
