서울 거주 외국인의 생활만족도 결정요인 분석 : 다차원적 생활조건과 한국어 능력의 조절효과 중심으로 = Determinants of Life Satisfaction among Foreign Residents in Seoul : Focusing on Multidimensional Living Conditions and the Moderating Role of Korean Language Proficiency

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 서울 거주 외국인의 생활만족도 영향요인을 분석하고 한국어 능력의 조절효과를 검증하였다. 기존 연구가 사회적 결속이나 정책 공정성에 주목했다면, 본 연구는 거주어려움, 차별경험, 도시 이미지, 지역사회 소속감, 주관적 행복인식 등 서울 생활에서 경험하는 다차원적 생활 조건에 초점을 둔다. 특히 한국어 능력을 단순한 의사소통 능력이 아니라 생활정보, 행정서비스, 지역사회 자원에 접근하기 위한 제도적 접근 역량으로 해석한다는 점에서 차별성을 가진다.
2023년 서울서베이 외국인 조사 자료를 활용하여 서울 거주 외국인 2,500명을 대상으로 위계적 회귀분석과 조절효과 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 도시 이미지, 주관적 행복인식, 지역사회 소속감은 생활만족도에 정(+)의 영향을, 거주어려움과 차별경험은 부(-)의 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 한국어 능력은 생활만족도에 정(+)의 영향을 미쳤으며, 거주어려움, 주관적 행복인식과 지역사회 소속감의 영향 관계에서 유의미한 조절효과를 보였다. 이는 한국어 능력이 외국인의 생활 적응과 제도적 자원 접근을 지원하는 핵심 역량임을 시사한다.

This study examines the determinants of life satisfaction among foreign residents in Seoul and the moderating role of Korean language proficiency. Unlike previous studies focusing on social cohesion, policy fairness, or general social integration, this study analyzes residential difficulties, discrimination experiences, perceived urban attractiveness, community belonging, and subjective happiness. Korean language proficiency is viewed as an institutional access capacity, not merely as a communication skill.
Using the 2023 Seoul Survey of Foreign Residents, this study analyzed 2,500 foreign residents through hierarchical regression models with interaction terms. The results show that perceived urban attractiveness, subjective happiness, and community belonging positively affect life satisfaction, whereas residential difficulties and discrimination experiences have negative effects. Korean language proficiency has a positive direct effect and moderates the effects of residential difficulties and community belonging on life satisfaction.
