다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract) kakao i 다국어 번역

Goethe thought that the realizable possibility of world literature is closely connected with the matters of translation, and attempted to examine the translation`s role and value within the world literature. Realizing world literature by the medium of translation means observing the changes of the native language and developing a crossing practice which is linked to the phenomena of circulation / vitalizations of the language, its growth and extinction. Kim Jin-seob and Zon In-Sob (Jeong In-seob), who are categorized into School of Foreign Literature became keenly aware of the necessity and the importance of translation. They started exploring the possibility of Korean literature in the world literature considering translation as an inevitable medium for development of modern Korean literature and Korean language. Particularly, for Zon, the translation was the only means to richen the Korean vocabulary by rediscovering / recycling archaism, or either creating neologism which possibly extend the category of grammar and develop Korean language. Thinking that translation would contribute to the formation and settlement of modern Korean language, Zon expected Korean literary world to be modernized by accepting advanced Western literature theory which could be imported via translation. From this perspective, Zon conducted researches on the inner system of Korean language (study on accent and prosody), translated English written foreign literatures into Korean, and translated Korean literature, especially sijo into English. Translation was the dream of realizing world literature and the steppingstone toward the development of comparative literature theory. The reason why Zon wrote about and introduced the structure and mechanism of Korean language to abroad, and translated Korean literature by himself was that he thought that comparative literature, world literature and literature in translation were engaged to each other, thus sharing one activity. His perspective was build on the premise of paratactic equivalence between Korean and foreign language. Translation for the comprising the literary world in the 1930s is not an option for Zon. Rather, it was the core condition which decided the fate of the literary world.
