Korea has accumulated a lot of experience from previous Mega-events such as the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games and the 2000 Asia Europe Meeting in Seoul. The purpose of this study is to present a way of increasing international competitiveness in the event industry and to provide the basis for the development of theory by understanding different types and classification of events, the theoretical consideration for the intention to participate in events and the concept of the intention to participate in events which foreigners are aware of. To achieve the purpose of this study, we surveyed 820 respondents of 40 countries on the basis of Immigration Statistics, using the Statistical Analysis System Ver. 8.2. The result of this study was founded that there was a difference in the intention to participate in different types of events in Korea according to the nationality of foreign travelers. The demographic feature of the foreigners made differences as well. It is expected the study result can contribute to establish an efficient marketing method by concentrating on the targeted group according to different types of events when the events target foreigners.
