삶의 균형을 위한 예술교육 = Challenges of Arts Education For Balanced Life

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

From the perspective of arts for life, this study examined the pattern and obstacles of arts participation caused by work hours reduction. Also, the study proposed the direction of arts education in order to reestablish the value of art in response to work-life balance trends. Despite the increase in leisure time caused by work hours reduction, there still exist psychological barriers to public participation in the arts. To remove these barriers, we need to shift arts and cultural policy away from an educational instrumental perspective governed by professional experts. At the same time, we need to direct our attention towards an expressive perspective to respect for both elite and popular tastes. In order to facilitate arts participation in everyday life, arts education in schools should provide participatory cultural literacy programs, which are customized to fit each development stage of child and youth. And also, it is needed to realize the centrality of the arts in the physical environment of schools. In addition to this, arts and cultural institutions should make endeavor not only to redefine art, but also move from a model of provision to a model of enabling. It is because they can help us to make use of them to create new values of art and culture in everyday life.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 삶을 위한 예술의 관점에서 근로시간 단축에 따른 예술참여의 양상과 장애요인을 살펴보고, 일과 삶의 균형 속에서 예술의 가치를 재정립하기 위한 미술교육의 과제를 제시하고자 하였다. 근로시간이 단축되면서 여가시간이 증가됨에도 불구하고 일반 대중들의 예술참여에 대한 심리적 장벽이 존재한다. 이러한 장벽을 허물기 위해서는 학교 안과 밖의 미술교육이 보다 실제적인 예술참여의 경험을 제공하는 참여적 문화소양교육을 강화하고 학교 환경 속에서 예술의 중심성을 확보하는 것이 긴요하다. 그리고 예술정책이 전문가의 지배를 받는 교육적ㆍ도구적 관점에서 벗어나 엘리트와 대중의 취향을 같이 존중하고 공존하는 표현적 관점으로 바뀌어야 한다. 또한 미술관, 박물관 등 예술기관 차원에서는 미디어의 디지털화에 대응하여 예술을 재규정하고 서비스 전달방식을 기존의 제공모델에서 촉진모델로 전환하는 등 공공의 예술참여를 촉진하기 위한 노력이 다각적으로 모색되어져야 할 것이다.
