Emergence of Arabic as a languages of the Islamic Empire and an international language has been attributed to the codification which motivated the formation of grammatical rules and the Arabic studies. Before the revelation of Quran, Arabic was divided into various dialects in the form of spoken language. But after the revelation of Quran, Arabic was codified in the Quran in the form of common language which was mainly based on the language of Quraysh tribe.. In this regard, Quran was the first codified work in Arabic. With the codification, Arabic played the role of communication which connected the Arabs with non Arab people.. The codification of the Arabic language has given rise to the emergence of the school of Basra and Kufa which have led to the transformation of descriptive linguistic studies in the early days to speculative studies. Basra school had the prescriptive characteristics as the orthodox school of Arabic grammar, while Kufa school has put an emphasis on th analysis of data based on the descriptive manner. The emergence of Kufa and Basra school has contributed to the formation of a variety of Arabic language studies such as phonetic, morphologic, and syntactic studies as well as rhetorics and lexicographic. In addition, as a way to coin Arabic vocabularies, the rules such as inference, derivation, and metaphor enriched the vocabularies, and has also contributed to the standardization of Arabic.
