다문화 치안활동에 대한 만족도 분석 및 개선방안

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

South Korea is fast to enter the stage of multicultural society and many sociologists have proposed a range of theories to identify the causes of pathological phenomena taking place in a multicultural society, reaching a conclusion that social integration will be the ultimate solution.
When defining social integration in relation to foreigners staying in the nation, two core concepts appear including “adaptation into South Korean society" and “understanding of multiculture."The police runs four major programs, namely the crime prevention class for foreigners, help center for foreigners, policemen-multicultural families mentoring, and driving school class for foreigners, as part of its social integration efforts. It has also reinforced crime crackdown activities to establish a public order for foreigners.
The chapter made the following proposals for the direction of multicultural policing from a total perspective:First, a multicultural policing program should be designed to contribute to social integration.
Second, the human network for multicultural policing should be rearranged to activate crime reports and work together with joint public peacekeeping activities.
Third, CPTED should be applied to the areas of dense foreigners population and strict crackdown should be applied to foreigners-related crimes in order to maintain the order and prevent slumism.
Fourth, it is needed to establish public peacekeeping infrastructure by expanding the exterior organization, manpower, and budget to respond to the growing demand for public peacekeeping in a multicultural society.
Finally, the police should actively promote multicultural policing through the press and form a national consensus for “understanding of multiculture," the second core element of social integration.
