특성화고 출신 대학생들의 특징과 학습 참여 유형에 대한 비교 탐색

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 특성화고를 졸업하여 대학 진학을 선택한 학생들이 일반계고 출신자 그룹에 비 해 어떠한 집단적 특징을 띠고 있으며 이들이 대학 재학 기간 중에 비교집단과 다른 학습 경 험을 하게 되는지를 실증적으로 탐색하기 위해 수행되었다. 전국 99개 대학에서 수집된 2015 년 대학생 학습참여(K-NSSE) 조사 데이터(N= 71,712명)를 분석한 결과, 특성화고 출신 대학 생 집단은 일반계고(일반고, 특목고, 자사고) 출신 대학생 그룹에 비해 성별, 나이, 가정의 소 득수준, 편입학 경험, 고교 내신 성적, 대학 직전 학기 성적, 대학 선택의 기준, 소속된 대학 의 소재지나 규모, 설립주체 등 거의 모든 개인적/기관적 변수에서 유의미한 차이를 나타냈 다. 그러나 졸업 후 진로 결정 여부나 진로 준비도 등 두 가지 요인에 있어서는 인문계교 출 신자와 차이가 없었다. 다음으로 특성화고 출신이라는 요인이 대학생 학습 참여에 끼치는 영 향력을 다중회귀분석으로 분석한 결과 학습 전략, 능동적·협동적 학습, 교우관계, 지원적 대학 환경 등 총 10개 요인 중 여섯 개 하위요인에 유의한 영향력을 끼치는 것으로 나타났다. 이 와 같은 분석 결과를 바탕으로 특성화고 출신 대학생들을 지원하기 위한 대학의 노력이 확대 되어야 함을 논의하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was conducted to explore collective characteristics of college students who graduated from vocational high schools and their engagement in learning in college. Graduates of vocational high schools differed from graduates of general high schools in most of individual and institutional factors, such as gender, age, high school GPA, college GPA, the size and the location of their institutions, and so on. Surprisingly, however, vocational high school graduates did not show a higher level of career preparation and career choice than their counterpart. In the multiple regression on the ten factors of student engagement, the high school type was found to affect six factors out of ten when other individual and institutional variables were controlled for. In particular, students who graduated from vocational schools have difficulties in exercising effective learning strategies and participating active and collaborative learning. Policy implications for supporting non-traditional college students, namely graduates of vocational high schools, were discussed.
