Characteristics of lime sludge for phosphate removal have been studied by a column reactor. The efficiency of P removal increased with decreasing the lime sludge size. As much as 99.7% P removal was observed in the condition of 10ppm phosphate inlet concentration and size 1(2.0~4.75mm) as an adsorbent. Also, both sizes of lime sludge demonstrated over 90% phosphorus removal efficiencies during the experiment. It is concluded that waste lime could be utilized as a good source for the packing materials in a continuous adsorption column process.
