다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)
The purpose of this paper is to explore residents` perceptions toward casino development. Specifically, this paper examines whether there are significant differences in residents` perceptions toward Kangwon Land Casino over 4 year longitudinal periods. On-site surveys were conducted for residents in the casino communities with self-administered questionnaires. ANOVA and Scheffe tests show that residents` perceptions were significantly different over 4 year longitudinal periods. Residents were likely to perceive positive impacts less strongly and negative impacts as being less worse after the casino opened than they did prior to the casino`s opening. This finding indicates that Kangwon Land Casino and local government should provide more investment for developing tourist businesses and improving the quality of life for residents in order to improve positive social and economic impacts. In addition, central government should establish `Gaming Control Board` soon and `Problem Gambling Center` in order to reduce negative gambling impact.
