This study invesfgates the collapse of cut slope in the Kyeongnam Habcheon area and suggests a reinforcement method. It involves a case of large scale collapse. It is judged that during the rainy period precipitation seeped into the fault plane and the embedded clay between the bedding planes prevented complete drainage, increasing the groundwater level, which, in turn, producing great buoyancy acting on the bedding plane and water pressure on the fault plane, ultimately caused the collapse of the slope. In order to achieve long-term stability, a method for stability reinforcement has been attained by separating the slope into the rock area and the colluvial deposit area. It is summarized in the following table.
