    The conflict of natural gas in Ukraine is very complicated, and many countries around Europe have been involved in their economic and political interests that makes difficult to solve problems fundamentally. Energy related conflicts between Russia and the EU are basically because that the EU is very high dependent on the Russian natural gas. The EU imports natural gas from Russia which accounts for 34% of its total import of natural gas. 50% of imported natural gas from Russia is transported through Ukraine. After experiencing discontinuance of natural gas supply in Ukraine in 2006 ad 2009, the EU has implemented various energy policies in order to reduce its exceed dependence on Russian natural gas. In particular, the EU tries to diversify its import sources in natural gas. By contrary, Russia maintains various containment policies. The reason why Russia is keen to launch its containment policies is that Russian energy export accounts for 70% of its total GDP and 50% of government revenue. It means that the energy industry is the pivotal industrial sector. The EU``s energy policy seeking for diversifying import sources faces various containment policies from Russia. This paper argues how the Ukraine conflicts related to natural gas in 2006, 2009, and 2014 have impacted on the EU``s energy strategies for strengthening energy security. Additionally, it analyzes impacts of reduced natural gas import from Russia on the EU and what are alternative strategies for the EU.
