The proliferation of online databases has led to a dramatic increase in the availability of services provided through the Internet. To date, however, online services have largely taken the form of supplying basic data or information on an $quot;as is$quot; basis. This is examplified by the provision of magazine articles or stock prices in electronic farm.

This paper illustrates the use of data mining tools to provide advanced services on the Internet. For concreteness, the ideas are presented through a case study in forecasting interest rates.
