This article is the study of Integrated Watershed Management of Naktong River. In the past, water management was sub-sectorial, mostly in relation to water supply, irrigation and flood control. There is a growing consensus that integrated watershed management is necessary for sustainable use of water resource for all interests and protection of the environment.
The primary objective of this study is to purpose to build an ideal plan of the Integrated watershed management system in Korea. To attain this primary objective, constitutional, organizational and operational requisites should be well established. Based on these three criteria, the current korean watershed management system are evaluated by the two sectors, that is the management of water quantity that is water use and flood control, and the management of water quality that is environment of watershed. The evaluation results show that there are some degree of differences among the sectors, but in general, current watershed management system are far behind to implement integrated watershed management in korea.
The conclusion of this study is as follows;
To build an ideal integrated watershed management is necessary to carry out three policy subjects, that is the unification plan of watershed management, the integrated management of water quantity and water quality, and the activation of local network system.
