레트로 퓨처리즘 영화 포스터 디자인의 시각 요소별 특성 연구 = A Study on the Visual Elements of Retrofuturism Movie Poster Design

This study analyzed the visual elements of retrofuturism movie posters by setting them into color, shape, typography, and texture. As a result of analyzing 10 representative cases from 1927 to 2022, it showed the following characteristics. Colors provided a futuristic and sensory visual experience through neon tones, metallic colors, and strong contrasts, and in terms of shape, the genre characteristics of the movie were visually expressed through a mixture of geometric symmetry and asymmetry. Typography evolved from mechanical fonts to modern digital fonts, and in terms of texture, metallic textures and digital textures were utilized to reinforce the mood of the movie. Each visual element effectively reflects the characteristics of modern society where the past and the future, analog and digital, reality and virtuality coexist, and through this analysis, it can be confirmed that the genre called retrofuturism is continuously developing and influencing modern design. This study is significant in that it analyzed the visual characteristics of retrofuturism movie posters, confirmed that they have a unique design identity by combining the futuristic imagination of the past with the technological sense of the present, and suggested the possibility of a modern reinterpretation and application of past styles in the field of visual design.
